Matawai Deer Park has fenced off two QEII-protected areas, alongside an active baiting programme to control pests and support biodiversity. They are working to restore and protect wetlands in partnership with the Mōtū Mātāwai Catchment Group. It’s a practical example of how landowners, schools, and the wider community can work together to protect and enhance New Zealand’s natural environment.
